Happy Spring Parents!

As we all know, books are the key to nourishing a child's learning in every aspect. Our main focus this month is trying to keep our lovely books in good condition. Help us reach our goal by reminding the children to treat the books with care! There is no better treasure than the books a child can read.

Reading

Dear Parents/ Guardian,
Assalamu Alaikum

Reading to your child or having your child read to you has tremendous benefits such as spending quality time together, increasing your child’s vocabulary, introducing him/her to the wonderful world of books… the benefits are too numerous to name them all here.

January Newsletter 2013

Dear Parents,
We welcome you all back from the holidays and hope that you all had a great time with your families inshallah!!
Program Changes:
  • We are in the process of scheduling a time every month for a group of the preschoolers to have a computer lab time inshallah.

Themes:
  •  Winter – circle time and other activities around the room will be relevant to this theme to help enhance the children to learn about winter. Various books about snow, sensory play with snow, art activities, and many other learning opportunities will be implemented in the environment. Children will learn that winter is a cold season, white snow, the different things we have to wear in order to stay warm, and etc.
  • Winter Animals – this theme will be implemented in the environment to help the children to understand about the different animals that are considered winter animals. Children might learn about the different characteristics that these animals have so that they are able to live in such cold weather, and what they look like (polar bear has thick fur to stay warm). They might also learn about the different things they do or eat.
Islamic learning – at circle time we will recite surat Al-Fatiha and surat Al-Falak each time and the Duaa before sleeping.

Friendly Reminders:
  • Each child needs to have a bed sheet and a blanket or 2 blankets (to put one underneath them) for their cot at the childcare. Please provide either if your child does not have both. Any pillow must have a pillowcase please!
  • Parents need to bring and return washed bedding the following Monday when given from the past Friday.
Snow is here!! Your child must have:
  • Winter jacket
  • Snow pants
  • Heavy mittens/gloves that are warm enough
  • Boots
  • Warm hat
  • Possibly a scarf

Jazaka Allah Khairan,
The preschool staff

cleaning

Insh'allah this week we will focus on the different cleaning methods. We will encourage the children to act in gentle manners and emphasize on Kids' etiquette of keeping the place, clothes, hands, and the floor clean and tidy. This in turn will  help the child develop and practice good manners at the table.
Role modelling also helps teach children to be caring and clean, we will focus on good manners while eating at the table this week.
Dear parents,
It is never too early to begin teaching children good manners. Because the teachers are already very good role models for them by keeping everything in the daycare clean and fresh, I kindly ask you to work with us on these manners while you are at home and continue our work with the children on this topic. I guarantee your efforts will not be lost and we will come to wonderful results based on this theme insha allah.

I appreciate everything you have given the childcare and especially the big difference you have truly made in our school's program when you began to involve more in our daily activities. I want to assure you that by this participation, you will give your child some of the sweetest memories in her/his life.
Being an outstanding parent is a big challenge for all of us.

Stand Up! (to Bullying)

This week is the Stand Up! (to Bullying) at Abraar school and the daycare. During the week we will focus on this theme. Some people may still wonder:
Does bullying really exist among young children? The answer is a clear yes. Some teachers and parents may still wait for this confirmation. Our goal this week is to raise awareness for the teachers, parents and children. We will observe the children from different angles and analyze their behaviours. The purpose is also to make the children feel that we are always there to help, assisting the children to be brave and how to stand up for his or her self such as a loud "Leave me alone!" can do wonders.
Parents, please tell the teachers if you feel that your child is uncomfortable. Teach your child to tell the teacher and make it a goal to build up his/her confidence.
